Opening

This morning was supposed to start at 9am when banks opened but I had to have a little ME time before I started. So at 11:28am I headed to the bank to open up a business credit card. I already have a business account but the credit card is now necessary for the purchases and helping me keep everything more organized and get rewards! The first bank stop didn’t have any business bankers so I’m at the second location – plus, I need to get a cashiers check for the lease deposit (which I’ll talk about the amount and what it covers)

To open a credit card I went to chase, I already have a business account with them and I wanted something where if I needed in person assistance it was available for opening a credit card…

First you need to decide what credit card you want to go with. They help

You pick out the best one for you, for example I knew that I wanted to get cash back on purchases I made.

But before all that make sure you have your business license, fictitious name paperwork and decide what corporation you want to work under, LLC. or sole proprietorship.

I had to get a cashiers check for the lease agreement. Which covered deposit and new construction plus the last two months of rend in five years. So far, I’ve spent $12,000 between new salon furniture and the lease agreement.

11:28 am was in the bank and I finished at 12:41 PM -now I’m on my way to the county of riverside in down town riverside to check for a fictitious name and any business permits I need 🙂 at 12:52

Best to get here early, but the line goes by pretty quick. For fictitious name- I had to pay $66. Make sure you have a California ID ! You can go to any computer and file under fictitious name- fictitious name is you owning the rights to the name for your business and it’s good for up to 5 years. Meaning no one can use that name! And if they do use it without a permit you can fight it 🙂

Business sales tax permit is located in a different office. By the end of doing all these things I have gone to three different buildings to get all my paperwork in order. As I wait, I witnessed three marriages!

2:00 pm got done registering Studio 13 Salon 💕 its now filed under a fictitious name:)

I arrived at 12:52 and got done at 2pm!

Now I have a meeting at 2:00 pm for the HR support with square to help Me set up guidelines and making sure I’m doing everything correctly. I have a HR manager who will also set up payroll and sets up audits! My main priority is to make sure my coworkers are happy where they are and know that drama/ bullying is not tolerated. I’ve worked at a high end salon where I was discriminated and treated extremely poorly to the point where I would go home and I would cry and I never ever want to make any of my employees feel that way. My goal is to inspire and build confidence.

I’ve been really scared to start this business but after signing up with an HR manager I am getting more and more excited for this whole thing! HR fee is usually around $500 a month, but since I’m a square business user, I got the deal of $99 a month. Which is worth it! Because I want to do things correctly!

I’m now at the business licensing office at 2:18pm the fee for business license was $171 which is good for whole year 🥴 every year we are responsible to pay renewal fee. I still have to get the sales tax permit- which will be on Wednesday, i am done here at 3 pm with my stomach asking for the tiniest amount of food – I drive to diamond bar to give up my savings 🙃

Dropped off $7,244 for the lease building that is now officially known as

A quick stop to Home Depot to pick out vinyl flooring and swatches for the accent wall:)

I’m guessing I’m about to spend about $3,000 on flooring and $150 on paint ☹️
